To Add an Attribute to the Global Attribute Set of a Job Default

With the Add/Remove Global Attributes dialog box, you can add attributes to the existing set of global facility attributes for a particular job default. When you add an attribute to the global attribute set, the Workflow Manager component lists the attribute on the Global page of the dialog box and displays it with a special icon to indicate its global status. The Workflow Manager also gives the attribute a default value that you can either accept or modify.

Values of the global attribute set determine the attribute defaults of all facilities that share this attribute-unless you have specified a different value for a particular facility, which overrides the global value.

You can modify values for individual facilities in one of the following ways:

  • Override the global attribute value for an individual facility by selecting a different value for this attribute on the Features page of the Job Default Assistant. For more information, see Overriding the Global Attribute Values of an Active Job Default.
  • Edit the attribute values of an individual facility, including its global attribute values, before selecting it in the Features Catalog and assigning it to a work location.
  • Edit the attribute values of an individual facility after assigning it to a work location.
  1. From the list of job defaults in the Job Defaults view, double-click the job default to open it in the Job Default Assistant.
  2. Or right-click the item and select Job Default Assistant from the shortcut menu.
  3. Click the Global tab and select the folder of the commodity type to which you want to add a global attribute.
